Kampong Cham Provincial Administration holds meeting to intervene and respond to water shortage

Un Chanda, Governor of Kampong Cham Province and Chairman of the Provincial Disaster Management Committee, on the morning of April 30, 2024, chaired a meeting to prepare for the intervention and respond to the lack of clean water for the people.

After listening to the report from the relevant units, the Governor of Kampong Cham Province took the following measures:

1. Clean water operators must make every effort to be responsible for finding water sources that are close to supply to the people living in their service area to adequately supply (alternate) if there is a shortage.

2. Water operators must prepare rubber tents for water storage in their service areas in collaboration with local authorities at all levels, relevant departments, and NGOs to find a water truck and a water source nearby to transport water to distribute to people.

3. Water operators must educate people living in their service area to increase attention by preparing jars, tanks, and water storage tanks for daily use and the highest savings.

4. The Kampong Cham Water Supply Authority must prepare water storage tanks and water for delivery to people living in its service area and help other areas as needed.

5. The Water Supply Authority will use its intervention force, including human, cost, and technical resources, to address water supply problems where private operators are unable to solve them, aiming to provide temporary water distribution and reduce the cost of installing new plumbing.

6. Municipal and district administrations must cooperate with the Department of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation to inspect the preparation sites to prepare water storage facilities in villages that face water shortages to transport water to be stored for distribution to people in areas where there is a shortage of clean water.

7. Municipal and district administrations, departments, and units around the province continue to follow the instructions of the provincial administration on fire prevention measures and preparedness interventions in response to the shortage of clean water for the daily use of people and livestock that face water shortages.

8. The municipal-district administration is mandated to advise the public on the need to reduce and suspend the cultivation of mixed crops that consume significant amounts of natural water.
