Cambodia, Liechtenstein agree to continue cooperation and explore the possibility of expanding new cooperation to increase labour productivity and attract more investment

 


Cambodia and Liechtenstein in the European Union have agreed to continue cooperation on existing vocational training in Cambodia and to explore the possibility of expanding new cooperation to boost the Cambodian workforce, increase productivity, and attract more investment.

This statement was made during a courtesy call between Heng Sour, Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, and Dominique Hasler, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education, and Sports of the Principality of Liechtenstein, held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Ministry.

The Minister thanked the Government of Liechtenstein for further strengthening the qualifications of Cambodia’s technical and vocational training in line with national policies to provide Cambodians with specific skills, increase productivity, and be competitive in attracting investors who are looking to invest in ASEAN.

The Minister emphasised that the need that Cambodia wants more of is to strengthen the qualifications and training standards to international standards to meet the needs of the competitive market.

At the same time, Ms. Dominique Hasler praised Cambodia’s skills training plan, emphasising that technical skills play an important role in driving economic growth for the nation.

In addition, the two sides agreed to explore the possibility of new cooperation to strengthen the technical and vocational training in Cambodia to be more diverse and flexible for citizens in line with current market needs and the development of new digital technologies to enable Cambodians to have higher capabilities in the production chain, a stepping stone to maintaining existing investments and attracting new investment.
